The webinar on nosocomial infection prevention and Control in the context of COVID-19 pandemic was successfully held

On April 24, 2021, the Webinar on Nosocomial Infection Prevention and Control in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, co-hosted by the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association and the World Health Organization, was successfully held. Prof. Seto Wing Hong from School of Public Health, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Wu Anhua, the chief physician and honorary director of the Hospital Infection Control Center of Xiangya Hospital, chairman of the Hospital Infection Control Branch of Chinese Preventive Medicine Association and Ms. Zhang Tuohong, official of the WHO Representative Office in China, attended the meeting. In addition, nearly 300 experts and scholars in the field of nosocomial infection prevention and control attended the conference through ZOOM video conference system.

Prof. Seto Wing Hong from Hong Kong University made a speech


First of all, Prof.Seto Wing Hong from School of Public Health, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, Hong Kong University highlighted the importance of nosocomial infection prevention and control in the context of COVID-19. He pointed out that the most important aspect of nosocomial infection control measures is the cleaning and disinfection of the environment in his report, which requires prevention and control personnel to use disinfectants according to the frequency of contact and different environmental conditions.In addition to the prevention and control measures in hospitals, disinfection of non-medical environments is also very important.


Dr. Wu Anhua, the chief physician and honorary director of the Hospital Infection Control Center of Xiangya Hospital, chairman of the Hospital Infection Control Branch of Chinese Preventive Medicine Association made a speech


Dr. Wu shared prevention and control measures from the perspective of infection chain.Dr. Wu pointed out that medical institutions must build fever clinics, designed to meet the requirements of the specification and the isolation ward, do a good job in disinfection and cleaning in the medical environment as much as possible to improve the existing conditions of hospital infection control and prevention, improve the awareness of prevention and control of all health care providers, screen all suspicious patients in a timely manner, which means the medical institutions must carry out comprehensive prevention and control from multiple links in the infection chain.

The interactive Q&A session was hosted by Ms. Zhang Tuohong, the official of the World Health Organization Representative Office in China. She and the two professors had an in-depth discussion on the prevention and control measures of hospital infections.

In the end, Prof. Wu Anhua summarized the key content of the conference and emphasized the importance of prevention and control measures against COVID-19. The webinar came to a successful conclusion.The webinar is the second cooperation between the CPMA and the World Health Organization. As an important social force in the field of preventive medicine, the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association will, under the guidance of WHO, continue to truly and objectively share China's experience in epidemic prevention and control with the international community, and contribute to the construction of a community of common health for mankind.
